Business Partners, The Chamber for Uptown is hosting our 6th Annual WINTER WALK ON WILSON on Friday, December 6th from 5-8PM. This FREE event features sweet treats, warm drinks, and menu samples offered by local Uptown businesses as well as live holiday music along the Wilson commercial corridor from Clark to Sheridan.

This isn’t your usual BOB social, it’s the Halloween social! Come dressed in your favorite costume, maybe even your scariest crypto costume. An ICO? A hard fork? …Maybe even Libra! (⊙_◎)

(Costumes encouraged, but not required.)

Whether you’re new to the Bitcoin/blockchain scene or a seasoned expert, our evening social is an opportunity for you to meet like-minded people and hangout somewhere fun in Chicago. No formal presentations or formal speakers. It’s a night about food, drinks, and socializing.

This social was provided by our awesome community via our new BTCPay Server crowdfunding page, https://bob-chi.org/donate . Thank you to all the awesome people who donate and make these events possible!

All ages and experience levels are welcome. If you’re new, you’ll find friendly faces ready to share their stories and knowledge. If you’re already part of the community, join us and meet others who share your passion.

Plan to arrive anytime after 6:00pm. We’ll be ordering food at ~6:30pm. The Social officially ends at 9:00 but we’re free to hangout at the bar after 9:00 and continue the conversation.

Sully’s House is located just south of North and Halsted, just a block from the Red line’s North and Clybourn stop and near the Brownline’s Sedgwick stop.

Details

Paul, CEO of the Edge wallet, will discuss the implications of a hard fork, what exactly it means, and how it affects the average bitcoin and cryptocurrency user.

He’ll also go over the differences between hard forks such as Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin SV, and Ethereum Classic. You will get a thorough understanding of what replay attacks are and the various forms of replay protection that can and have been implemented to minimize the impact of hard forks. Paul will also discuss the economic incentives and motivations behind various types of forks. Most importantly, you will learn how to prevent possible loss of funds with proper pre-fork and post-fork precautions on various wallet types, using Edge as an example.

Paul is CEO and Co-Founder of Edge, a non-custodial exchange and security platform for blockchain applications. Edge (formerly Airbitz) has won accolades including being one of the top 3 mobile apps for bitcoin in the 2014 Blockchain Awards, being voted in the ‘Top 50 FinTech Companies to Watch’ by AlwaysOn Inc, and receiving first place in the Inside Bitcoins 2015 and Coin Agenda 2016 pitch competitions. Paul held lead engineering positions with Nvidia and Chromatic Research and holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley

Lightning Talks: This talk will include lightning talks by community members. In 2 minutes anyone can present their idea, ask for help, recruit partners, or launch new projects. It’s a perfect opportunity to find co-founders, coders, advisors, designers, and clients to help make your idea a reality. If you would like to present, please send BOB a message via the meetup.com group. There will be a limited number of spots, first come first serve.

Logistics: The event will be held at 2 pm at mHUB, which is an innovation center for physical product development and manufacturing and a co-working community.
